How the Personal properties Securities Act will affect the construction industry
If you administering a contract:
- where goods or equipment are located at another party's premises;
- that involves hire equipment on a long-term basis;
- that contains Romalpa (retention of title) clauses;
Then, the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth) (PPSA), that came into effect on 30 January, 2012, could affect your business. The PPSA will supersede approximately 70 Acts and 46 registers that currently deal with personal property, and, with less than five months until it is introduced, little time is left to prepare for the fundamental changes it makes to the laws governing personal property in Australia.
SEMINAR: Security of Payment and Personal Properties Securities Act
NECA SA would like to remind you that we will be holding a seminar on the new Security of Payment Act and Personal Properties Security Act, which both came into force recently in South Australia.
The SOP Act and the PPS Act will significantly affect the way that electrical and communications contractors operate their business in terms of both debt collection and management of progress claims in addition to retention of title.
To find out more information on the proposed seminar and the Acts please visit the NECA SA website or you can Register Your Interest prior to 20 April 2012.
