The future of the solar industry has become less certain since changes to the Solar Credit scheme and Feed-in Tariffs paid to households in several states. The Federal Government has scaled back the solar credits scheme for the second time in six months. In the latest change, Climate Change and Energy Efficiency Minister Greg Combet has made adjustments to the solar credits scheme by reducing the solar credit multiplier down from five to three from 1 July 2011. The Minister’s believes that that the customer will now receive financial support for about a third of the cost of installing a 1.5 kilowatt (kW) PV system.
