New and Improved 56 Series Is Simply Hard To Beat
Over the past 30 years Clipsal’s 56 Series has developed a legendary reputation as a true industry performer in the harshest work environments. This great legacy has been carried on with improvements to the 56 Series 250V and 415V switched sockets and plug connectors.
Clipsal engineers have been working hard do develop innovative design changes to the entire range. These design changes will not only benefit installers and end users, but also keep 56 Series as a clear industry leader for many years to come.
“Through listening to our customers Clipsal’s extensive 56 Series range has undergone vast improvements. This not only allows us to maintain our leading market position, but will also offer installers and end users benefits that have previously never been seen in industrial switchgear,” said Rob Milde, Clipsal Industrial Product Manager.
Like always, all 56 Series switchgear has an IP66 rating, is manufactured from premium grade impact resistant resins and incorporate the highest quality internal mechanisms. Although some elements of the 56 Series haven’t changed, the overall design has had a complete make over.
The first thing you’ll notice is the new switch design. It’s 12% larger, which is ideal for gloved operation. We’ve increased its padlock area (8mm shank) and lowered its position to reduce dirt build up. The next thing you’ll notice is the larger socket flap and gasket design. The flap opens a further 43% than before making it easier to plug into, and it’s actually 25% stronger than its predecessor so it can provide significantly more impact resistance in those tougher environments. The latch spring has also been redesigned, so it will last and last.
Keen eyes will notice that we’ve done away with stickers and replaced them with permanent printing on the enclosure itself. This will never wear away and customers in the food industry won’t have to worry about stickers peeling off and falling into places where they shouldn’t.
Further more, we guarantee an IP66 rating because our single piece rear gasket is co-injected. It won’t shrink in harsh environments or create a potential safety hazard. All the “copy-cat” imitators have stick on gaskets that perish over time and simply can’t cut it. Our new 56 Series Switchgear covers are fully backwards compatible so you can fit them to existing bases - it’s not a problem.
In addition to the new and improved Clipsal 56 Series Switched Sockets, we’ve also made some extensive changes to our range of plug and socket connectors. The Clipsal 250V Plug and Socket Connectors feature clean product lines that minimise food and waste build up, offering superior hygiene. An M20 rear thread and standard external components allows for cable connection flexibility and simplified maintenance. A clear plug and socket body makes for easy inspection of terminals, cord clamping and cable entry areas, while the cleverly designed hinged cord clamp swings out of the way during termination. Our innovative design doesn’t stop there though. The Clipsal 415V Plug and Socket Connectors now have an ergonomic handle, which promotes correct plug use. A better cable entry set up negates the need for “onion ring” sealing and the screw-less assembly allows for fast termination, while improving product strength. Finally, a stronger cord clamp and body sleeve connection prevents the cord from being pulled out, which can damage terminal connections, and a wider lock ring makes it far easier to unscrew plugs from sockets.
Clipsal’s leading position has been achieved by combining the worldwide expertise of our of our international technology partners with Australian manufacturing knowledge, to meet specific needs of local markets. By doing this, Clipsal is able to provide the highest level of before and after sales support and service.
When it comes to quality, Clipsal’s industrial range is simply hard to beat. Since 1981, Clipsal Industrial has remained undefeated as the toughest, most reliable industrial switchgear and accessories on the Australian market.
