NECA Safe OH&S Manual

The NECAsafe Manual was developed in 2002 by NECA, in conjunction with CGU Workers Insurance and Quality Safety Management Australia in order to develop an ‘OH&S Management System’ specifically for contractors operating within the electrotechnology industry. The NECAsafe manual is widely acknowledged and accepted as an essential OH&S system for contractors by government and industry bodies including, SafeWork SA, the Office of the Technical Regulator, WorkCover and Employers Mutual Limited. Recently updated in accordance with changes in the building and construction industry, the NECAsafe Manual is now even more reflective to the current requirements of the industry.

NECAsafe provides an outline of all the relevant OH&S and Workers Compensation legislation applicable in South Australia. It also provides policy / procedure development and implementation instructions for employers in a user-friendly format.

The NECAsafe OH&S Management System breaks down the following 6 elements of OH&S management:

  • Documentation Management
  • People Management
  • Workplace Management
  • Reporting Procedures
  • Injury Management
  • System Management

The 10 relevant chapters and 3 appendices break down these 6 elements into easy-to-follow instructions and forms. Each sub-topic includes appropriate forms, registers, worksheets, checklists and / or policies. There are 25 of these pre-developed documents along with a further 28 sample Work Method Statements included in the NECAsafe manual.

Key features of the NECA Safe OH&S Management System include the Employee Guide to Safety and the NECA Hazard/Risk Identification booklet which are an important inclusion in the OH&S system and are designed to provide employees with the necessary tools to manage thier individual OH&S requirements.

Further information on both of these employee tools is provided in the above links. Please note one copy of each employee resource is included in the NECAsafe manual pack, but additional copies of each should be purchased for each individual employee to ensure the system is maintained effectively and employees each have the necessary tools to work safely.
